Value Added Producer Grant Information Session (8/17/2010)

MUST REGISTER!

What do these small businesses have in common? - A vineyard in the hill country making cooking salsa out of their grapes - A cotton producer turning cotton into organic cotton swabs - An olive orchard selling soaps and lotions made from their olive oil They all qualified for grant money from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Value Added Producer Grant Program. This grant can fund planning strategies, such as feasibility studies or business plans, or provide working capital for businesses creating value-added products from agricultural commodities. To be eligible to participate in this health care program, employers must: (1) operate a business within Travis, Hays or Williamson counties; (2) have between 2 and 50 eligible employees; (3) not have offered group health coverage in the previous 12 months; and, (4) be willing to pay at least 50% of the premium costs for enrolled employees.
